Welcome to the new creative heart
of Downtown Santa Cruz: Abbott Square.

How can we build a place that serves our whole community? It starts with a gathering place. It starts with Abbott Square.

To build the community we dream of, we need a Downtown that is safe and welcoming, economically and artistically vibrant. Abbott Square will be a front porch for Downtown--a place to meet, gather, be inspired, and connect. The project includes dramatic public art, delicious local food, ongoing performances, and a family-focused secret garden play area. Abbott Square will be a place to celebrate with old friends and make new ones. Share a laugh. Share a story. Build community - right here in Abbott Square.

We’re doing the work to make Abbott Square a reality right now. This $5,000,000 project is a partnership between the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History (MAH), the City, and the County.

The revitalization of Abbott Square is the most compelling public-private project in Downtown in the last twenty years.
— BONNIE LIPSCOMB, SANTA CRUZ DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Abbott Square will open to the public in Spring 2017. But we’re building community support around this project already. Don’t wait for Abbott Square to open to get involved. We need your help today--as donors, cheerleaders, artisans, and performers. A strong community plaza only thrives when we all feel like part of it.

Ready to get involved? You can make a donation right now and be a community superhero.

Remember the magic of the old Cooper House? Abbott Square will bring back that spirit of gathering and connection in Downtown. It will help us build a strong future for our creative community.
— -JIM EMERSON, MAH BOARD PRESIDENT & RET. SANTA CLARA COUNTY JUDGE
