Join artist Megan Flød Johnson and filmmaker Alicia Rice for a film screening and interactive workshop. Activities will center on the importance of imagination and risk-taking in our community.
The event will begin by watching their short documentary, “When Kids Meet a Creature." The film invites viewers, of all ages, into the imagination of children. It follows kids as they explore the "Creature" through art and storytelling. The "Creature" is an unknown mythical being that has come to their town. The community must prepare its nest, just as the MAH invited people to do Sunday, June 24th in the museum.
Following the film there will be a Q&A with both artists. They will touch on how you can bring creative experiences to people of all ages in your community. As well as, how to express ideas using creative outlets like theater, art, drama, and movement. Leading into an activity designed for kids to ask big questions. They will have the opportunity to reflect on their needs, and the needs of others in their community through art making, fort-building and story play
This interactive event is for all ages. It is family friendly, drop in & FREE!
The Nest is a pop-up exhibit that will be created on Sunday, June 24th and will be on display through the week until this film screening (Friday, June 29th). Learn more at: The Nest Pop-up: Giant Fort Building
